Day 1 BOARD YOUR OVERNIGHT TRANSATLANTIC FLIGHT.

Day 2 ARRIVAL IN LONDON, ENGLAND. at London
After checking into your hotel, the remainder of the day is at leisure.

Day 3 LONDON / STRATFORD / COVENTRY / YORK / HARROGATE. at Harrogate
Drive through the rolling Cotswold Hills to Stratford-upon-Avon. Visit Shakespeare’s birthplace and view Anne Hathaway’s cottage before continuing to Coventry to see the two Cathedrals, one which was bombed into a ruin during World War II and the other which has risen from its ashes. Also see the statue of Lady Godiva before continuing to Viking York. Enjoy a walking tour of the city highlighting the ancient Walls, the Mansion House, the picturesque “Shambles” and the magnificent Minster. Then on to Harrogate for a Welcome Drink and Dinner. Day 4 HARROGATE / DURHAM / EDINBURGH. at Edinburgh
This morning journey to Durham, dominated by its 11th-century Norman Cathedral, its castle overlooking Palace Green and other fine buildings sur­rounded by the picturesque River Wear. There is time to explore this small but mag­nificent city before driving through Northumberland National Park to a section of Hadrian’s Wall. Then cross the Scottish border at Carter Bar for spectacular views and pause to see the ruins of Jedburgh Abbey before arriving in Edinburgh, Scotland’s elegant capital. (B)

Day 5 EDINBURGH. at Edinburgh
A morning tour includes the Royal Mile, views of Holyrood House, Princes Street and a visit to Edinburgh Castle. You may want to view nearby Rosslyn Chapel, which retains an aura of mystery with its references to the Knights Templar, but more recently as an important feature of the Da Vinci Code. (B) Note: Tickets to the Military Tattoo are included on Jul 31-Aug 15 departures.

Day 6 EDINBURGH / ST. ANDREWS / SCOTTISH HIGHLANDS. at Edinburgh
Drive across the Forth Bridge and along the Fife coast to the famous golf course at St. Andrews and stop at the 18th hole. On to the Scottish Highlands to visit charming Pitlochry village. Then travel to the Highland village of Laggan. (B,D)

Day 7 SCOTTISH HIGHLANDS / CULLODEN / LOCH NESS / GLASGOW. at Glasgow
Drive to Culloden Moor where Bonnie Prince Charlie was defeated by the redcoats. Visit the famous battle­field before continuing to Loch Ness; keep your eyes open for the monster. On to Fort William with views of Ben Nevis, Britain’s highest mountain, before driving on to Glencoe. Travel along Loch Lomond en route to Scotland’s largest city, Glasgow. (B)

Day 8 GLASGOW / LAKE DISTRICT / LANCASHIRE. at Lancashire
After an orientation tour of Glasgow, drive to Gretna Green, where the blacksmith would marry eloping couples. Returning to England, see Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake. Then on to Grasmere to visit St. Oswald’s Church where the poet Wordsworth is buried before driving to the hotel. (B,D)

Day 9 LANCASHIRE / CHESTER / TINTERN / BRISTOL. at Bristol
Your first stop is in Chester for a walking tour. Cross into Wales and the Wye Valley to view the ruins of the 12th-century Tintern Abbey. Tonight, savor a Farewell Dinner. (B,D)

Day 10 BRISTOL / BATH / STONEHENGE / LONDON. at London
Travel to Bath to visit to the Roman Baths. Then journey across Salisbury Plain, stopping to visit mysterious Stonehenge. In Salisbury, there is time to admire the Cathedral. Finally journey through Wiltshire and Hampshire back to London. (B)
